Description
The Creative and Cultural Industries as a lever for economic development and attractiveness The Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) are key drivers of economic growth, generating revenue and employment while gaining significant momentum and development potential. Although Africa and the Middle East currently represent a small share of the global CCI market, these regions have immense growth opportunities. A thriving cultural sector can also play a crucial role in diversifying economies. Both in Africa and globally, CCI transactions are on the rise, driven by a young, expanding middle class with a growing appetite for cultural goods and services. Since 2016, Benin has positioned this sector as a cornerstone of its economic development. In response, the government has made major investments and implemented proactive policies to establish CCI as a key pillar of economic diversification. However, unlocking the full potential of this sector requires active private sector engagement, which remains essential to its success. How can we further attract private investment in tourism, culture, and the arts? What strategies can effectively catalyse public investment in the cultural sector?
